2010 Paving Awards
2010 APAM - MDOT Asphalt Paving Awards
This year, 66 projects were evaluated. The judges visited each of the nominated projects and rated them on a scale of 1-10 in the following areas: Appearance: includes overall neatness, no overspray or left-over materials; Ride: must be smooth; Texture Uniformity: free of segregation, major surface grinding, roller markings, etc.; Longitudinal and Traverse Joints: straight, well-blended, smooth and uniform; Edges: straight, uniform, true to the contour of the road; Approaches: blended well with the mainline pavement; Utility Covers: flush with the pavement; Degree of Difficulty: includes exceptional circumstances, maintenance of traffic, night paving, etc. The individual judges scores were then added up and averaged to arrive at the highest project scores.
The awards were presented by Andy Schmidt (Edw. C. Levy Co.) APAM President and Greg Johnson, MDOT Chief Operations Officer. The Asphalt Pavement Association of Michigan and The Michigan Department of Transportation congratulates the 2010 Paving Award Winners!
